The Nitrate-Nitrite-NO Pathway in Physiology and Therapeutics
Nitrite Therapeutics
Presentation Title
Overview of Role of Nitrate in Human Physiology and Therapeutics
Dr Lundberg received his MD from the Karolinska Institutet in 1993. He did
graduate work there from 1994 to 1996 and became an Associate Professor in
1999 and Full Professor of pharmacology in 2004. In addition to his professorship,
Dr Lundberg is Head of the Section for Pharmacological Nitric Oxide Research
at Karolinska Institutet.
Dr Lundberg’s main research interest is the physiology of
nitric oxide (NO). His research focuses on NO-synthase-independent pathways
for the generation of NO in humans, especially the role of nitrate and nitrite.
Other interests include the use of NO as a marker of inflammation in the
airways and gastrointestinal tract.
