Dr Wiener-Kronish, MD is currently Professor in the Departments of Anesthesia and Medicine, Vice-Chairman, Department of Anesthesia and Pre-operative Care, and a Cardiovascular Research Institute Investigator.
Dr Wiener-Kronish received her BA in Psychology and her MD from the University of California. She then completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine from Mount Zion Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at the University of California. From 1980-1984, Dr Wiener-Kronish completed a Research Fellowship at the Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of California and a Residency in Anesthesia at the University of California..
Dr Wiener-Kronish began her career in Anesthesiology in 1982 as an Instructor in Medicine at the University of California. In 1986, she became an Assistant Professor in Residence of Medicine and Anesthesia at the University of California, moving to Associate Professor in Residence in 1990; and in 1996, she became a full tenured Professor of Anesthesia and Medicine. From 1996 until the present, she has also been Vice-Chairman, Department of Anesthesia and Director of Research Programs for Department of Anesthesia. She is the former Medical Director of the Anesthesia Pre-operative Program.
Recipient of numerous honors and awards and a member of several professional
organizations, Dr Wiener-Kronish has been an Invited Speaker or Moderator
at numerous international and national conferences. She was elected into
the Institute of Medicine. Dr Wiener-Kronish has supervised or mentored
pre- and post-doctoral students, has worked on many research awards and
grants, and is a prolific writer with 98 peer-reviewed publications,
37 book chapters/editor, 20 reviews, and six invited editorials. She
has two patents issued or underway and has 131 abstracts.
