This presentation will discuss how the University of California, Davis, and the University of California, San Diego IRBs’ experience in approving a research study involving a waiver of consent for a study involving greater than minimal risk in emergent situations. A case study from University of California, Davis will be discussed and the presentation will conclude with advice for researchers in working with their IRBs for these types of studies.
