The full potential of emerging microtechnologies to advance medical knowledge and our understanding, diagnosis and treatment of disease is critically dependent upon the availability of high quality biological specimens linked to clinical data. Biorepositories play a key role in supplying the substrate for the conduct of this translational research.
This presentation will discuss the development, organization and operation of the program-wide biorepository for the Department of Veterans Affairs Cooperative Studies Program. The repository provides VA researchers with a convenient, high quality, low cost mechanism to include banking of biological specimens in their clinical research.
