What have we learned and what do we need to know about the treatment of pulmonary hypertension (Summary of Presentation)
Dr. Galie is Associate Professor of Cardiology at the Medical Faculty in the University of Bologna and heads the Pulmonary Hypertension Centre at the Institute of Cardiology. He also teaches at the Postgraduate Medical Schools of Pulmonary Diseases, of Cardiology, and of Rheumatology, at the University of Bologna.
Dr. Galie earned his medical degree in 1979 from the Medical Faculty, University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy and graduated cum laude. He specialised in Cardiology in 1983 and in Sports Medicine in 1987. He has authored more than 400 scientific publications on heart failure, heart transplantation, and pulmonary hypertension. Professor Galie is a Scholar of the Italian Society of Cardiology, Gold Medal of the Polish Society of Cardiology and a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). He is Chairman of the working group on pulmonary circulation of the Italian Society of Cardiology. He is Co-Chairman of the working group on pulmonary circulation and Chairmen of the Guidelines Committee for Pulmonary hypertension of the ESC.
