Emerging Diseases Associated with Pulmonary Hypertension

Dr. Elliott is Professor of Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine and Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Division at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.  From 1979-1980, he was Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.  He then became Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Utah, School of Medicine, moving to Associate Professor of Medicine in 1987 to full Professor in 1994.  Dr. Elliott has been a member of the Strategic Leadership Council, Pulmonary Hypertension Association since 1996 and from 2005-2006 has been Chair of the Scientific Program Committee, Pulmonary Hypertension Association Scientific Meeting.

Dr. Elliott earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland in 1973 and completed a three-year residency (1973-1976) in internal medicine at that institution.  Between 1976 and 1978, Dr. Elliott was a Fellow in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Utah, then spent a year as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland.

Co-author of more than eighty peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Elliott currently provides research support for nine grants primarily in the area of pulmonary arterial hypertension and also ultrasound-sparing strategy for suspected deep vein thrombosis. He has received numerous honors and awards including the 2006 Outstanding Physician Award by the Pulmonary Hypertension Association and sits on several major committees in his field.
