of Presentation)
Dr Yamasaki, PhD, a plant biologist, is Professor of Biology at the University of the Ryukyus in Okinawa, Japan.
Dr Yamasaki received his BSc, MSc, and PhD in Biology from Kyushu University, Japan. From 1991-1992, he completed a year of postgraduate training as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow at Kyushu University. He began his academic career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Ryukyus. From 1996-2001, Dr Yamasaki was an Associate Professor in its Department of Chemistry, Biology, and Marine Sciences. From 1997-1998, he was a visiting fellow at the Research School of Biological Sciences (RSBS) at the Australian National University. From 2001-2005, he was a Professor of Integrative Biology at the Center of Molecular Biosciences (COMB) at the University of the Ryukyus, Japan.
Since 2005, Dr Yamasaki has been a Professor of Biology and is now Head of the Biology course at the University of Ryukyus. He is also a University Presidential-aid (Research). From 2006 until the present, he has been Chair of the Department of Chemistry, Biology, and Marine Sciences at the University of Ryukyus.
An invited speaker at five international congresses from 2000-2006, Dr Yamasaki has written ten major peer-review papers, three book chapters, three recent journal reviews and numerous article citations. In addition to antioxidant research, he has lead the field of plant nitric oxide (NO) research for nearly ten years.
