Presentation Title
Effects of Nitrate on Blood Pressure and Oxygen Utilization in Man (Summary of Presentation)
Dr Weitzberg received his medical degree from Uppsala University in 1980 and did graduate work at the Karolinska Institute from 1990 to 1992. He has been a Full Professor of anesthesiology since 2003 and has published more than 100 articles.
Dr Weitzberg’s research interests include the roles of endothelin and nitric oxide in various inflammatory conditions, such as gastroenteritis, endotoxin shock, urinary tract infections, and pulmonary hypertension. The main focus is now to explore the nitrate-nitrite-NO pathway in relation to normal physiology as well as in disease states. Special attention is given to the role of this pathway in the Intensive Care setting.
