NO Reaction with Nitrite Bound to Methemoglobin (Summary of Presentation)
Dr Kim-Shapiro received a PhD in biophysics from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1993. He is a Professor of Physics and also holds appointments in the departments of molecular medicine and biomedical engineering at Wake Forest University. Earlier in his career, Dr Kim-Shapiro served in the Peace Corps (1984-1986) as a college-level physics Instructor at L'Institut Superieur du Pedagogy, in Zaire. He holds an NIH Independent Scientist Career Award for 2004-2009 and recently received an NIH MERIT award.
Dr Kim-Shapiro is currently studying the effects of nitric oxide and aggregation in biological systems, especially as it relates to sickle cell disease. He has published over 65 papers.
