Dr Kelm is currently Professor and Chairman of the Department of Cardiology, Pulmonary Diseases, Vascular Medicine, and Intensive Care Medicine at University Hospital Aachen.
From 1986-1987, Dr Kelm completed an Internship and Residency, Department of Neurology, University of Cologne Research Associate at the Laboratory for Vascular Ultrasound, Max-Plank Institute for Brain Research. From 1987-1989, he was a post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Cardiovascular Physiology, Heinrich-Heine University, Dusseldorf and a Visiting Scientist at the Clinical Research Centre, Section of Vascular Biology, London. From 1989-2005, Dr Kelm worked in the Department of Medicine, Division for Cardiology, Pulmonary Diseases and Vascular Medicine, and Intensive Care Medicine, Heinrich-Heine University, Dusseldorf.
From 1989-1995, Dr Kelm was a Resident and Fellow in Internal Medicine, from 1995-1996 he was an Assistant Professor of Cardiology, Heinrich-Heine University, Dusseldorf, and from 1996-1998, he was an Associate Professor of Cardiology. In 1998, Dr Kelm became a Full Professor in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Vascular Medicine (tenured position) at Heinrich-Heine University and has been Head of the Medical Clinic, Department of Cardiology, Pulmonary Diseases, Vascular Medicine, and Intensive Care, University Hospital Aachen since 2005.
