Dr Friedman is a Member of the Selection Committee for the Albany Prize in Medicine and Biomedical Research (2006-present) and the Young Men's Division Chair in Cardiovascular Physiology and a Professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics (1992-present) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr Friedman received his BS in Chemistry from Brooklyn College and his MD and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. From 1987-1989, he was a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories and from 1988-1989, he was a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff. From 1989-1992, Dr Friedman was The Spencer Professor in the Sciences, Department of Chemistry, New York University. He then was Chairman of the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine from 1992-1998.
The recipient of several awards and honors, Dr Friedman has extensive publications, has completed two research grants for the NIH involving Structure, Function and Dynamics in Trasferrin and Conformational Plasticity and Allostery in Hemoglobin and is presently working on four others. Current projects involve Molecular Biophysics and Applied Biophysics.
