Presentation Title
Role of Xanthine Oxidoreductase in Nitrite-derived NO Production (Summary of Presentation)
Dr Ahluwalia is currently a Professor of Vascular Pharmacology in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at The William Harvey Research Institute in Queen Mary’s School of Medicine & Dentistry in London.
Professor Ahluwalia’s work focuses on understanding the mechanisms of vascular homeostasis in inflammation, particularly on the role of the endothelium. More recent research projects in her laboratory include studies investigating the role of endothelium-derived hyperpolarising factor (EDHF) in cardiovascular protection, the role of C-type natriuretic peptide as an EDHF, dissection of the mechanisms involved in vascular inducible nitric oxide synthase expression in sepsis and the mechanisms involved in nitrite-derived NO production and function in the vasculature.
