The Karolinska Institute is one of Europe’s largest medical universities, and is Sweden’s largest medical training and research facility. The Institute is most known for being the institutions assigned in Alfred Nobel’s will to award the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
The Nobel Committee works at and announces the year’s laureates in the Nobel Forum at the Karolinska Institute. The Forum opened its doors in 1993, and is an example of careful architecture and beautiful furnishings of oiled cherrywood and Jämtland limestone. The building is decorated with handmade tapestries.
