Mitochondrial Dynamics in Neurodegenerative Disease
(Oct. 7, 8:55 AM )
Presentation Summary
Dr. Chan is Associate Professor of Biology at the California Institute of Technology. He joined the Institute in 2000 as Assistant Professor and was promoted to his current position in 2006.
Dr. Chan obtained a combined MD-PhD from Harvard Medical School in 1996. He then proceeded to a postdoctoral fellowship in the field of biophysics at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The primary focus of Dr. Chan's group is the role of mitochondrial dynamics in normal cellular function and human disease. To address this problem, they use a wide range of approaches, including genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, and structural biology.
