The Role of Insulin Signaling in Mitochondrial Dysfunction

Impaired myocardial insulin signaling develops in various models of obesity and type 2 diabetes. We have shown that mitochondrial dysfunction develops in the heart in parallel with the development of myocardial insulin resistance. This presentation will discuss mechanisms that link insulin and growth factor signaling to mitochondrial function and integrity in the heart.
