David B. Hoyt, MD, FACS, received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He then completed an internship, residency, and fellowship in surgery at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and a fellowship in immunopathology at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation.
Dr. Hoyt is the John E. Connolly Professor of Surgery and Chairman
of the Department of Surgery at the University of California, Irvine
School
of Medicine.
Dr. Hoyt is a former chairman of the American College of Surgeons (ACS)
Committee on Trauma and is a current member of its executive committee.
He is Medical Director of the ACS Trauma, Research and Optimal Patient
Care Division.
Dr. Hoyt is a member of the editorial boards of Journal of Trauma,
Shock, World Journal of Emergency Surgery, and the Journal of
the American College of Surgeons, among others, and he is a reviewer
for over 20 additional journals, including Circulation, the New England Journal
of Medicine, Lancet, and Annals of Surgery. An international lecturer,
he is the author of over 400 book chapters, journal articles, and abstracts.
